I recently observed my husband singing to our 2 8 week old sows while they were in their cage one evening - after a few minutes they started going bananas and were having a serious popcorning session ;D This has now become a nightly activity which is a great source of entertainment to us all. Their reaction is almost immediate and it is the same reaction all the time

One of our sows also has a habit, at cuddle time, of rolling around like a dog til she gets in a comfy spot and :smitten: lurves having her belly tickled. When she has had enough she lets you know by wriggling and then begins to popcorn on you knee :D

I was just wondering if other peoples piggies have strange popcorning habits? Thought it might make an interesting thread topic

Looking forward to hearing peoples feedback on this I'm sure we will all be having some giggles 2funny and find out some interesting popcorning facts along the way

Hi Suzie,

My 2 boars have just been moved to a C&C cage size 6ft by 4ft, they have always popcorned but more so now with all the room they have. Sunshine popcorns when I cover him in hay, especially soft meadow hay, he loves it. Sunshine runs through the fabric tunnel I have and Twinkle is waiting for him at the other end and they popcorn into one another, reminds me of a hi five!

Cuzzy who is my lone board popcorns when hubby talks to him, or if we put our hands in the stroke him, he is very tame and loves his piggy lips stroked!

The girls haven't popcorned yet, they are still getting used to us after about 6 weeks. But I'm sure it will happen, they are very timid and jump at the slightest noise, may start a thread about trying to win them over as I've been a little concerned about them.

Sure a thread on winning them over would be great I'd certainly be on it O0

Being new to piggies I still have a lot to learn :)

Would dearly love to get c and c caging for our piggies but space isn't too great at the mo and neither is the pocket :( so I'm having to be patient and wait but it is definitely on my agenda

It's great that your Twinkle and Sunshine get on so well and encourage each other to popcorn- when I got close to Sweeps piggy lips the other day she drew blood :-\ so I don't think I'll be doing that again

All the best

Aww don't worry about the girls, it just takes some time with some piggys. I haave not really been able to win my Piko over either, shes just so nervous and flattens herself into the ground when I try to pet her. Its been more than a month now. Hope she gets better after she has her babies(if there are any inside) She does popcorn a lot when food comes though and when she is playing with Eevee..but she is afraid of us touching her.

My 4 all popcorn, usually when I put in their special 'fun' hay (they go crazy for petplanet's meadow hay and ignore any other). Lily's taken to doing it when I put her back in her hutch after morning breakfast and cuddles - I'm trying not to take it personally :-\ Greta's a popcorning machine though: when I remove his bowl, pout it in, give him hay, clean him out, on my lap ... but the funniest was today. I've bought them all woolly hats to curl up/play in during cuddles time and they love them; as soon as he'd gone inside during today's cuddles session he ran out of it to have room to popcorn then went straight back in and fell asleep.

Bee-Bop popcorns when she's full of veggies! :D
It never seizes to amaze me how high they can jump! :o

My piggy does this also. 98) I was wondering if ti was normal, I guess it is.

I love it when my piggies popcorn! Truffles has got very long fur and when he popcorns his fur goes all over the place - it remiinds of a hair shampoo advert when the women flick their hair! :D My partner calls him wiggy because he looks like a wig ::) :)

Suzie thats so cute that your hubby sings to the piggies! if I sang to mine they'd all run for cover!

One of mine popcorns when I do the hoovering! 98) Very strange!

Fugly has floor time where he can come out and explore the hallway and lounge and despite having all this space to play in he can still manage to popcorn straight into the wall!!

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo miffed >:( My nine wheek old black self boar has not popcorned (not in front of me anyway). Every piggy I've ever had has popcorned (even when they've got older) but I have yet to see him doing it - >:(

I love to see mine popcorn all do it after I have cleaned them out :smitten: The best popcorning I see is out on the grass in the summer ;D they go crazy :smitten:

Yep mine too they love being out in the grass in the summer it seems like such a long time ago now :(

Our ickle Lanson had her first session popcorn session today...

We havent been able to give them alot of attention the last 2 days as we are stripping and rebuilding our en suite.

I cleaned them out tonight and put them in the conservatory to muck around. Lanson (who is SOOO small) just went off on an adventure by herself and was popcorning contently, the other 5 found her and joined in... so funny ;D
