Ive been meaning to join this website for a while but every issue I've had with my piggies has been resolved but not this one, I'm unsure about a noise my guinea pigs are making when they clean themselves. It's kind of like a bubbling noise but it's not, it's hard to explain, first only Honey did it and because he's quite overweight, I thought that could be part of the reason, but now Little One my other piggy is making the same noise. They're eating fine, they've been drinking a lot less than usual for 3 or 4 weeks, they're popping and peeing fine as far as I can tell. I'd really appreciate some help :)

Edit: I don't think this has anything to do with it but they both recently started laying on their side, then curling round a little, if you know what I mean. This could just be how they both like to sleep but it always scares me, my previous guinea pig, GuinGuin died when he laid like this :/

Does it sound like their noses could be blocked? is it a snuffly noise? what are they bedded on? have you changed to a different type of hay recently? are there any ar fresheners in the room? Are they eating ok?

Welcome to the forum. Can you try and catch it on video? Do they make it at any other time? When our piggies bend to wash themselves they often make a snuffling, sound to, they have always done this

A intermittent sound especially while doing an action like washing may just be a piggy sound, where as hooting all the time may point to a medical issue so try not to worry....

I don't think their noses are blocked, they're bedded on sawdust but soon it'll be replaced with blankets hopefully, the hay is the same as usual and there are no air fresheners, they seem to be eating fine too, it could just be a sound they make but none of my previous guinea pigs have made it so it has me wondering

I'll try my best :) I don't think they make it any other time, if your piggys do it, it must be normal, fingers crossed were thinking of the same thing, none of my other piggys have made it so i started to worry, every piggy is different I suppose :) thanks for the help

I wouldn't worry about the sleeping on the side curled round. My two boys do this all the time. In fact they were both like this in their hay till a moment ago but have now woken up. Bubble lays on my belly and goes asleep in that position too!

I didn't think much of it but a lot of people think they're unwell when they lay on their side so I thought it may be handy to mention it. Aw, bubble sounds adorable, my guinea pig does that too! :)
