I was grooming one of my piggies this evening and while me and my mum were giggling about florries very fluffy and somewhat saggy neck, I noticed a small pea sized lump could be felt within the fold of skin. It doesn't seem attached to anything except for loose skin and is under the skin and is about the size of a small pea. It isn't causing discomfort but now I am thinking the worst and not sure what to do about it! Of course, I will speak to my vet tomorrow morning but is there any advice or experience anyone can give me?

Thank you!

If it is loose in the skin, then it is most likely a harmless sebaceaous cyst. I would have it checked by a vet, as you should do with all lumps.

Hi there :) I've had a piggy with a neck lump that turned out to be an abscess that had to be removed, but because of it being on the neck it's best to get your piggy to a vet for a proper diagnosis as soon as you can :)

Thank you @Poppy'sMum I will definitely be getting it checked out, really hoping it's not an abscess or worse! x

Thankfully, abscesses can be treated a lot better these days when we have got access to strong antibiotics, but as long as you have the lump checked before Easter, you should be fine.

My vet took a needle aspiration biopsy (I think thats the name of the procedure) and I can expect to hear back within a couple of weeks. Nothing much came out from the lump, I was expecting some form of liquid but it was literally the most microscopic amount of matter which seemed like nothing. Very strange. She said it would be easily removable but wants to investigate what it is first.

All the best! The consistency of lumps can vary a lot!
