this is a copy of a post i put in another thread about tunnels, hammocks and beds, has anyone advice on my girls?:{:{
none of the things you have mentioned are available here in south oz pow-powpow-powpow-pow but have bought similar of ebayUK but after months my piggies wouldn't have a bar of any of it. not the tunnels, not the hammocks, nor the beds nothing. my piggies don't want to play they just eat, sleep and bury under the hay. maybe my piggies are strange?/?/?/ might put this in behaviour too.

try putting a small amount of hay into the beds, mine took ages to go in them but when I put hay in they love it, I can't get them out now!:))

stubborn girls

yep, have tried hay, straw, food and nothing, they both prefer to bury under the hay grrrrgrrrrgrrrr might try again and see how they go, **** shame i gave the stuff away, will have to buy more now. thanks :rose:rose:rose

My piggies love their tubes! try putting a piece of cucumber inside that will tempt them in! :(|)

for beds i have some vet bed cut up into squares which they love to lounge around on, i use fleecey blankets for them toc url up on and ive got a cuddle cup so they get a different sort of bed each time they are cleaned for variety. my pigs are really nosey so if i put something new in they run staright over and check it out!

**** aussie

why is it that all the guinea pig stuff like tunnels, beds, treats, ointments are only available in the UK, USA or hong kong?
the items are cheap enough but the postage is there a shock icon@)@)@)
close enough, like a bought a phone for $9.95 or 4.40 pounds and the postage from hong kong was $25.00 or 12.50 pounds.
will have a look but guinea pigs and bunnies are so forgotten here in oz8...8...8... poor darlings.

Maybe have a look in the cat section of pet stores for fleecy tunnels or little tent like beds they are just as good as the ones made specifically for piggies, and console yourself with the fact that while us in the uk have more toys you have the much sought after SUN;):)p

if you know anybody getting a new carpet, or you have a local carpet store ask them if you can have the tube from the inside, thats what i use for tubes, its just really thick cardboard and they last for years! lol

I am so sorry to hear that guinea pigs are neglected by pet shops there. I do buy my piggies tunnels and toys from the shops but also make my own toys which they love just as much.

They all love shoe boxes with holes cut in them. I fill them with hay and carrot peelings.

Also toilet roll tubes filled with hay are a great cheap treat which they enjoy.

I bought a pop up tunnel from a pet shop for them which they love - it was £5 and money well spent.

I know postage costs from the UK to Australia are steep. If you need something posted from the UK, I would be happy to do that for you if that would help and you are happy to pay the postage cost.

thank you

i had a look on ebay UK and bought 3 of these one each for zoe and jessie and one the faline the bunny http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=350075559086&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=022
apparently they are safe to chew and are bendable. it is going to cost $20.00AUD and $25.00AUD in postage so hoping the girls like them otherwise you will hear me scream from the UK. plus it might stop faline from chewing the cage.grrrrgrrrrgrrrr
thanking everyone for there advice and help, gee i love this forum and it's membersx>>x>>x>>

mine have the really large logs like those, did you buy the small ones? because i dont think piggies can fit under them.. they are more for hamsters.. the medium and larger ones are better for piggies and rabbits :)

log houses

i sent the UK seller 3 emails and she has only just got back to me now after i have just paid. apparently the $45.00AUD i just paid was for 3 small log houses and psotage, too get 2 mediums and 1 large one would be another 26.93 pounds or around $60.00AUD.
so there was no way i was paying nearly 45 pounds or over $100.00AUD is way too much to spend on a pension. will try and make some toys for the girls, might even get kitten beds or something similar.
though i just felt it strange that my girls have never wanted beds to sleep in or toys to play with. they prefer to bury under hay or cuddles, just thought my girls were strange.
thanking everyone for their advice, at least my heart is beating again.
hugs and many thanks :rose:rose:rose gilrs send xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Apparrently in the wild guineas live in tunnells of long grass where they can move safely to food.Mabie this is what they are doing rather than playing with the toys?/

damn pay pal

now the lady refunded my money but pay pal can't refund my money until they get the money from my bank and then it will be refunded why can't they just cancel the transaction instead of waiting for the funds from my bank? damn companies have to do things the joyll hard waypow-powpow-powpow-pow
so money should be in pay pal in 4-7 days and then have to wait another 4-7 days before returned to my bank account shame there is not a hanging icon but grrrrgrrrrgrrrr

girls toys

will see what i can get from here where i live even if i have to buy a kitten bed and as others have suggested toilet rolls stuffed with hay though our rolls are scented, even though we buy recycled paper. though i think with zoe being 4 next month and jessie 2 next month they might be set in their ways by now. thanks for all your advice and replies:rose:rose:rose
