Hey all, I am looking for ideas on best way to store hay. I know dark, dry and ventilated areas… what do you all use, I want to stay away from plastic containers?

I use a large wheelie bin, takes a whole bale of hay, which l keep in a corner of "The Hutch".

It also might depend how you buy your hay.
I get two types - one stays in the boxes it comes in. I also get meadow hay bales and you can buy hay bale storage bags.
You can decant it into a plastic box but you will need to make sure the box is not in sunlight and condensation doesn’t occur in the box as that will make hay go mouldy

I get hay from Haybox and store it in the boxes in a shed/workshop. I also buy hay from Natures Own that comes in bags, these get stored in the cupboard under the stairs. Once a bag is opened and being used it goes into a laundry bin in a corner of the kitchen. It gets used up very quickly so it doesn't get time to go mouldy from any cooking steam.

I buy haybox hay and it comes in boxes. I also buy cheaper bedding hay which comes in a plastic bag. I tip it out of the bag into an empty haybox box.

i get bales of hay from horse feed place....store in a hay bale bag in the shed.timothy hay.co.uk,comes in boxes so keep in guinea pig room, hay and straw meadow hay store in the bag it comes in,but open the bag,i decant meadow hay from the garage into these empty bag ,use for bedding hay.
