So I have a bag of hay and a bag if Timothy readigrass here at the moment. I'm just wondering what way you guys store your hay. Is it okay to leave the bag open or do you tape it shut etc? Will it go bad if not sealed tightly?

I leave my bags of hay open but peg the readigrass shut. It takes me only a week to get though a bag of hay but I'm still on my first bag of readigrass months later!

If there's any change of the hay getting damp, then keep it shut and sniff test before feeding

She doesn't seem to like the readigrass haha maybe her new pal will otherwise I'll have it for months too!

Mine luuurve it, but they only get a small handfull every week! (Reminds me: I must check the use by date! )
Haha. Maybe it's because it's different. She wouldn't was the alfalfa I got her either. I'm trying to build her up with everything as she was malnourished in her last home

Poor poppet. Mine don't think much of alfalfa either. They will eat the stalky bits but won't eat any of the more 'fluffy' bits

She's getting better thankfully, with lots of food and vitamin c and love. I'll try her with it a few more times and keep it to try with her new cagemate if she doesn't like it!

I buy small bags of hay that are gone in 5 days so they just stay in the bag.

The readigrass i bought 2 x 1kg bags and now, 3 months on, I still have nearly all of it left as they only get a handful a week. I keep it in the bag it came in but tape the top closed.

When I first got my girls they didn't seem interested in the readigrass but I think it must have grown on them because they go crazy for it now!

Okay I must keep trying every now and again!

I keep my hay in a water bin,but it has never been used for that! We drilled holes in it to increase air circulation. I get a bale from a local farm and simply dump it in, taking handfuls as needed.

The Timothy green hay I keep in the bag it comes in, with the top folded down so air can circulate.
