I buy hay in a huge bale, and I find it ugly to look at but don't have anywhere outdoors to store it(yet) so I was wondering if I just got a few cardboard boxes and stored it under the bed? It's a bed like this(not my bed,a google pic)

If you don't have any allergies to hay of dust it might be worth a go as long as you're not 'house proud'.

I find hay everywhere in the house, and I store mine in a large tub in the pig room! I'm not really sure how it escapes - but it does!

I store it on top of drawers so it's visible now I was hoping to do this to hide it more I know the feeling haha I brush the floor 2-3 times per day hay gets everywhere. My main concern storing it under the bed is ventilation and I'm worried it would go mouldy.

Ok so I have a shed that isn't waterproof or rodent proof. Is there any way to store it in there and keep it good? I was worried about storing it in there if I can waterproof/rodent proof I will buy a few big bales at a time.

I'm not sure if it would be a good idea but my guinea pigs live outside and I find hay everywhere, even in my school bag so you said you don't mind it getting everywhere but hay mites may be a concern :/

I don't like the hay getting in places at all I try my best to contain it but it's not easy with a free range rabbit and Guinea pigs. I just want to store it somewhere else as it's ugly to look at. I had a look at wicker baskets/bins but they are very expensive I'm looking for a cheap way to store it.This is where it's stored at the minute

You could try getting a plastic wicker basket my mum got one from argos I think and it was fairly cheap or you could get a rubbish bin and store it in there?

Yes That would be perfect but if I could storing it in the shed would be better My friend that keeps horses has an old brick shed,I don't know how waterproof/rodent proof it is but he just has lots of hay on top of eachother on top of a pallet. Could this work in my shed if I put a tarp around the top/sides and leaving one side open with wire in front to prevent rodents?

I think it could work :)

Great I will try it tomorrow if I can get some supplies. Would I need to put it on a pallet? Not sure how I will make it haha My main concern is rats and mice peeing on it.

When I used to keep piggies outside many moons ago, I used to shake out my hay into a plastic dustbin & pop the lid on & never had any problems :)

I would not to be honest, you old get some of those large plastic tubs from tesco and empti into those as it would look neater ?

The piggies are kept indoors I just don't want to keep the big bale in my bedroom as it's not very pleasing to look at and Someone offered me a fish tank for free with all the equipment that I'm considering taking and putting a dwarf pufferfish in so might need the space. decisions decisions lol.

I'm hoping to get some plastic storage tubs in B&M bargains to put all the supplies under the bed.

OMG ! Dwarf puffers are amazing ! Keeper them few years ago very intresing to see how they swim

Yeah they are amazing fish IF I say yes this will be my second they are so cute I love how they swim! Can't decide if I should take the offer.

I didn't find the food expensive for the one I had(pet shop kept it in brackish water when it shouldn't have been) and it didn't cope well changing to freshwater, even though they are 100% freshwater fish. I didn't think it took alot of time or money, just preparing the bloodworms and making sure I didn't over feed was the most time consuming. What tank size did you keep yours in? I will be keeping one in a 5 gallon.

I had a 4 foot display tank at the time I had mine, I think 5 gallon will be OK as long as you upkeep the maitance and keep cage decoration to a min to maximise the swimming space :)

Wow! that's a huge tank how many did you keep in it? I have a 15 gallon in the shed,I don't have space for a tank that big though. In my last work experience(pet shop) I worked with fish a bit,I even got to work with piranhas which were my favourite fish to work with.
