Oooh well done! Its not easy - any major strops yet?!

No not really, I just end up eating! I weigh myself at work as we have the big dog scales! I have put on 2 kg ( sounds better then 5ib!)

I used to live off ciggies (in my young and stupid days!), coke and coffee, crisps and wine of course, and I was nice and slim. Haven't smoked for years and try to eat healthily and got a bum the size of Birkenhead now! :o

I know the feeling well ;D

Well done Mary, don't be tempted anytime soon as you're nearly over the hardest part! You'll soon be able to feel the benefits - tasting your food, not coughing etc

Bless you! I should beable to get rid of the extra weight (I hope) I just find that food taste better now. When I am at work I can smell if some one has had a cig, when I did smoke I loved the smell as I wanted one but now its yuk!

My mum said that when I moved back up to the Wirral from London and stayed with them for a couple of years while I saved up for my own place, obviously i had to give up smoking as my mum is really against it and has a nose like a ferrett, anyway she said my face looked grey when I first moved up there, but gradually i got a nice colour back in my cheeks. She put it down to less pollution and good food, but I reckon it was down to quitting fags and less partying too!

Oh the smell...doesn't it stink? If my OH comes near me after having a ciggie I tell him where to go, you know what they say about reformed smokers!

Must say that I am looking alot better, but I have been through alot this last 5 weeks. My Dad passed away in March and he was a smoker, so I am doing it for my kids. I dont want them to go through what I have been through this last month

So sorry to hear, big hugs to you and your family :smitten:

It must make you more determined

Plus the kids have been off school for 2 weeks! So I think I have done well!

Congratulations Mary O0 O0 O0 O0

Sympathies to you and the family on the passing of your Dad :'( :'( :'(

I've now been a non smoker for over 21 years and am so glad as my Mum still smokes and it's horrible to hear her talk or move around she wheezes and coughs a lot :(

Hey Mary that is fantastic :-* I'm a trained Quit councellor so if you need any help give me a shout - I'll PM you my landline incase you've lost it. 3 days is a real milestone because if I remember correctly (its been a long time since I;ve done the work) the main bulk of the nicotine should be out of your body - if you can stick it out for another 4 days then all you should be left with is the habit rather than the habit & addiction. Maybe you should set up one of those ticker counter things to remind you how you are doing.
Some people find it good to put the money they would have spent on ciggies into a jar & it acts as an incentive to keep that money building & not buy any more.

Good luck MAry I'm proud.

Hx

well done Mary and OH wish mIck would give it in he did say when the law starts in July he will, we shall see

Well done, my Mom stopped 3 1/2 years ago - I think the incentive was my son, we had to move into their house for 6 weeks when the one we were buying fell through and she would never smoke around him (he would have been 9 months old then). I think she had smoked for something like 35 years! She quit with the help of one of those cessation clinics and she just stopped, didn't cut down or anything first. Keep going, you're doing really well O0
