Hi there!

was wondering if anyone has experience with poos looking like these? I figured it was some gut disturbance so i cut them off any fresh veggies and only fed hay/pellets. But the poos still look the same. I also fed fibreplex.

they are still drinking and eating well

would appreciate any help i can get

Hey,

his weight is alright, fluctations 50g max. They are off veggies for 2 days now.

i realised it was only coming from my one pig Pepper. Brought him to the vet and she commented that he might not be getting enough fibre, maybe eating too much pellets? So i’ll continue with fibreplex and also introduce critical care to up his fibre content and observe his behaviour.

Hay is the best thing for them to eat, it needs to make up 80% of their daily food intake. Veg should be one cup per day and pellets should be just one tablespoon of pellets per day.

Ensure you stick to these ratios and then they will get enough fibre from their hay based diet. Critical care is a fibre source, but syringing it to him shouldn’t be necessary if your piggy is maintaining his weight through a good hay based diet.

To stabilise a gut imbalance, keeping off veg and feeding hay (with the limited amount of pellets) and using a probiotic should be enough

Thank you! I will keep to the ratio, i usually dont feed a lot of veggies too but i recently changed hay brand so that might have what caused some gut disturbance.
He is eating the cc on his own, i just fed him as much as he wanted to take in, good thing is he loves the probiotic.
Hopefully his stools improve!
