Hi

I’ve been a bit absent minded and stroked my guinea pig (with washed hands) whilst I’ve recently had an upset stomach. I’m now concerned that I’ve passed it on to them. Any advice would be appreciated

As long as you wash your hands thoroughly before (and after) handling I think you should be okay.

Hi!

With washed hands the risk of passing on something is very small. I would strongly recommend to stay away from your piggies if you have proper norovirus, salmonella, strep throat, then please stay away from your piggies as much as possible.
The transmission risk of corona (Cavid-19 and human colds) and influenza viruses (flu) to any rodents, including guinea pigs, is classed as low but please keep any handling and contact minimal while you are ill and use your common sense.

Normal hygiene with hand washing before and after is usually perfectly adequate. I would recommend not to kiss your piggies during that time. Just be sensible but don't panic. There is comparatively very little that can be passed between humans and guinea pigs (or vice versa).
