Hi again lol, one of my pigs had a mammary tumour removed on Thursday last, the vet used both glue and stitches apparently. I think she has today started going at them as there now seems to be a long piece of stitch hanging there. Will i leave it or will i snip it a bit shorter so it doesnt annoy her further? I dont want to mess anything up but also dont want her to put healing back to square one and another vet visit 🤦‍♀️

I’d personally leave alone. The stitches sometimes break down and snap, it depends on what product they used. Healing will be well on the way if it was ten days or so ago. Cutting it short might make it sharp and sore if it rubs.

Has she been given metacam/loxicom? It will help with the irritation/itching. I would be tempted to not touch it without speaking to your vets on the phone at the very least. Where they dissolvable stitches or are you due to go back to have them removed?

Yes she is on painkillers twice a day and antibiotics. They need to be removed in two weeks the vet said so not dissolvable

I would call your vets for advice when they are open

If it is just two days, please contact the vet. That is usually a sign that there is an issue with pain or with the healing process or both. The healing process is only just getting underway.

All the best.
