Hi everyone,
My piggy who is three years old had a smell coming from his ears which smelled like an infection. He had his ears checked a year ago. I don't notice and swelling or buildup.

Has anyone had this experience before?

Good luck at the vets. Keep us posted. I hope it’s something easily treatable.

Hi and welcome

Ears should not smell. Please see a vet for the appropriate treatment. Sight unseen, we cannot tell you what is going on and whether your guess is correct or not.

Hi, as others have said, you will need to see a vet for a diagnosis as it could be for a number of reasons. For example one of my piggies has a polyp in her ear which reoccurs from time to time and has to be cauterised. It is very deep within her ear and when it starts to grow it will start to smell before it can be seen with the naked eye. Hopefully your piggy has something more straight forward.

Update, it turned out to be a scab near his ear that was infected. I'm not sure if he scratched himself or got in a scuffle with his cagemate. It is getting treated, thank you guys (hes a coronet so his hair hid it well)

Glad that it hasn't been anything serious in the ear, which is much more difficult and sensitive to deal with.
Wishing your boy a good recovery!

PS: I have had the peru version of your boy once with my Tesni (2011-18)... He is a handsome lad.
