We are STILL looking for our perfect set up for our piggies!

Have started to come round to having them indoors permantly now because I do nothing but worry about whether they are ok out there. My son (4) won't get to see them much once it starts getting dark really early. My daughter (1) absolutely loves them and would probably sit there all day babbling to them lol!

So what about this....

Does anyone have any experience of one of these cages?

:)

I have no personal experience but i am fairly sure someone on here asked about it a while ago, maybe they will spot the thread! :) I imagine it would be perfect for 3, maybe three if they were girls but perhaps not large enough for 3 boars. :) Hope that helps!

*perfect for 2, maybe 3 if they were girls etccc...

Thanks for reply. We have 2 boars, who atm seem to love each other. Will see if I can find the other post.

My friend has this for 2 and its just right, i wouldnt put more than that in there so if you have 2 boars already I think its fine, it works for her and the space looks fine :)

Hi,

I had this cage, and it is wonderful and huge! but...

I found the ramp was too steep so I ended up covering the ramp and splitting the levels. The bottom half has a small gap so it makes cleaning the bottomn half out very uncomfortable and it needs two to assemble.

Personally I would go for this one, easy to clean out and a bigger floor space:))

Thank you, I'll def consider those. I just thought the double story would give them their 'own' space, should they want/need it.
they currently have an upstairs, in their outdoor hutch so are use to that. It's so hard to see how big the cages actually are, will have to measure out on the floor.
Thanks guys

The main thing to remember with piggies cages is you can only count the floor space of one floor. :) Even though the second floor would give there own space, Its all about the area they can run laps in. :) Thats why most people tend to go for a square/rectangular cage. :) Hope that helps!

Also, can I ask if theres a reason youve already decided against C&C? :)

Not really decided against c&c, although it would have to be pretty secure as I have 2 cats and a dog.
Also, I really don't feel like I have much time to be building one atm.
Shame someone can't make one for me lol

Ahhh the cats explains it.. Honestly, I dont find my dog a problem however I'm not sure i would trust cats, as a smallish one could easily get a paw through the bars of a C&C cage. (maybe I'm just prejediced) but i think a shop built cage is deffo your best bet. If you can fit in a big rectangular ones I do think it would be best. And MUCH easier to clean out :))

Our two boys have a double tier cage and I am a really big fan of it, I would recommend it. We noticed a big difference in their behaviour when we moved them into it (they don't fight but bicker quite a lot and immediately calmed down!), and they do use both floors to get away from each other at times! I think it adds a bit more interest for them too.

I've got this one http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=813&pf_id=58497&co=fr and my sister has this one if you can afford a bit more it's better quality with a platform built in and larger opening http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/hutches_cages/rabbit_cage/120_cm_cages/137393

Here's a thread I wrote about the cage....

If it was between a larger one tier cage and a 120cm double tier I think others would probably suggest a greater floor space is more valuable, but for the space we had available this was perfect for us. I'm just wondering as you've picked out this corner cage, is space a big issue for you?

I have the second one the essigi baffy 120 - it currently houses my loan boar until his "mail order bride" spayed sow arrives from Tracy in Rugby - he uses both levels - runs up and down all the time and was using the ramp from the momnet I got him at 3 weeks old - it fits in the lounge next to the sofa - and Bumble is sitting next to me on the top level as I type - this is also on wheels.

We have the Essegi cage for our two sows, they love running up and down the ramp (which we have a tunnel on) would definatley recommend two tier cages.
