Hello everyone!

I noticed last night that Oreo's right eye looked like she had three styes. They disappeared an hour later and her eye seemed fine after that. I did make an appointment with our vet, but they won't see us till the 18th! Her eye is still bothering her as she keeps squinting and blinking that eye a lot this morning. Is there a care sheet on here so I can help her eye or what to look for to see if I can move up her appointment? She keeps avoiding me so I can't get a picture right now.

Any advice or positive vibes for Oreo would be great!

Can you get her seen by a different vet? All vets can treat eye problems. Eye problems really should be seen ASAP. She could have a hay poke injury in which case antibiotic eye drops from the vet will be needed. She could also have a strand of hay stuck in the eye

I am sending lots of healing vibes for Oreo x

I will see if I can find a non-exotic practice to treat her. Thank you!

I called all the vets in the area that "treat" guinea pigs. They all said they don't treat eye issues, only well visits. 😩 I did call our exotic vet and they had a cancelation for tomorrow so I took it. They said to do an eye wash or saline for the eye to help hold her till tomorrow. Does this sound right?

You can wipe the eye with some saline solution. Glad you got one for tomorrow. When it comes to eyes, treatment is the same for all animals. All the best for tomorrow, hopefully something simple.

Yes, I hope it is simple fix too. Glad that I checked with them again this morning and they had that cancelation!

I dripped some of the eye wash in her eye this morning. Her eye looks much better, no squinting at all now. However, she did the same thing last night and seemed better till I saw her this morning. She seems a bit nervous when I approach her from the right side; she acts fine if I approach her from the left side. I'm still taking her in tomorrow to make sure she is ok. I will update tomorrow what happens at the vet office.

All went well at the vet today. Oreo's right eye seems to be fine. However, her left eye seems to have a scratch on it. We got medicated eye drops to give to her twice a day for two weeks. On a side note, she must have peed on someone as the vet said "She is a very, very well hydrated guinea pig". XD
