My gp had bladder stone surgery 3 weeks ago, he is around 18 months old. He recovered well from the surgery and is now off all meds except Cystophan. He had Baytril as well. Yesterday I noticed he hadn't pooped as much as usual but back to normal.today. I've noticed he is squeaking when he poops as if in pain. It surely can't be another stone this quickly? Taking him to vet tomorrow. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with similar? Thank you.

Are you sure it's while he is pooping and not trying to pee? Poop is normally about 1-2 days behind, so if he hasn't been pooping much it's because he hasn't been eating enough. Have you been weighing him regularly? A piggy in pain is less likely to eat and as a result, lose weight. Does his incision ok? Any redness or swelling?

Ultimately we can't diagnose, only guess, so popping him to the vets will probably be best.

Definitely when he is pooping. His weight is fine, he's actually put weight on since his surgery. Incision is fine, no redness or swelling. Have given him some loxicom tonight and will see what vet says, appt is at 2pm so hopefully get some answers then. Thank you.

Good luck at the vets. Hopefully he just needs some more pain medication. 🤞

My Larry was squeaking when pooping, turned out the issue was with his bladder. Perhaps he's just very sore after the surgery?
Best of luck, I hope its an easy fix ❤️

Been to vet, he has put him back on Loxicom as his bladder feels little bit inflamed still. No sign of blood in urine. Has suggested trying a forage mix as he won't eat nuggets or pellets anymore. I need to find a forage mix that is bladder friendly. If anyone knows of any please let me know. I'm not having much luck finding any. Thank you.

Dry forage are normally high in calcium and as he's had a bladder stone, I'd be careful. Pellets are a part of the diet which can be removed without issue. I would focus on getting plenty of fluids into him. Wetting veggies before feeding as well as an extra chunk of cucumber will help keep his bladder flushed and help prevent the formation of more stones. I'd be tempted to try fresh forage as oppose to dry if you did want to take that route. I know raspberry leaves are meant to have anti-inflammatory properties. Here's a few dry forages:

Thank you. Vet said same about the nuggets, just have to be careful with low calcium diet to make he still gets enough vit c etc. I didn't know that about dried forage so I appreciate that. I looked at the I need a wheee, out of stock just now but the woman who makes it is going to call me on Friday. I put a post on guinea pig page on Facebook about grain free diet, didn't go too well. I meant he was on grain free nuggets from Science selective. I'll look into the raspberry leaves, been told cranberry can be helpful for bladder support too.

Science selective has the lowest calcium out of all the pellets available in the UK so if you're going to feed him any, keep it him on that. He will need only 1tbsp of pellets a day which for SS is about 5 grams or roughly 10-15 nuggets. You could use them as treats in all fairness. For the cranberry it'll need to be unsweetened and diluted although I think that's mainly for infections rather than to help against stones.

I honestly wouldn't bother asking on FB. It's very opinion based where as here is fact based.

Have a look at this thread. It has a section on diet for bladder stone piggies:
Long Term Balanced General And Special Needs Guinea Pig Diets

Larry had very limited amounts of Science selective grain free for nuggets. They have a good calcium ratio and we're the lowest in sugar I could find too (he was diabetic)
