Hi everyone, I’m looking for help.
On my last post, my female pig was doing some pink/red pee. The vet told me to give her 60mg of vitamin C everyday, and then the color of her pee came back to normal, even though she did some powdery pee. But she keeps squeaking when doing pee/poo, and sometimes she really seems in pain doing it. I don’t know what it is or what I can do. I decrease the amount of pellets and I’m giving her only one leaf of escarole so she can eat more hay. She drinks lots of water too.
As I said on my last post, she did X-ray/ultrasound and they didn’t find anything than an inflammation, a cystitis. Please, any help on this is appreciated 🙏🏻

Is she on painkillers and antibiotics? That is what is needed to cure a urinary infection. Vitamin c, cutting out veg and eating more hay c won’t help stop the pain and kill any bacteria

She isn’t anymore, but she was. She took these ones: sulfamethoxazole 0.5ml at every 12 hours and meloxicam 0.2mg, one pill and after a couple of days it was one pill and half. It stopped the pink/red pee for a couple of days, but it came back; didn’t stopped the squeaking also. After that the vet told me to stop the medication and start with the 60mg of vitamin C a day, and then the color of pee came back to normal, and didn’t do any pink/red pee again, but the squeaking is still going on

PS: she took sulfamethoxazole 0.5ml at every 12 hours and meloxicam 0.2mg, one pill and after a couple of days it was one pill and half. She took the medication for one week and one day, from 21 of July to 29 of July. For the first three days it was just one meloxicam pill, from 24-29 of July she took one pill and half of meloxicam. Since 31 of July she is taking 60mg of vitamin C a day.

A week of antibiotics may simply not have been long enough to cure any infection.
I’ve personally never known meloxicom to be given by pills by the owner - it’s usually a liquid.

If she is still in pain then she needs to go back to the vet for further checks.

I hope the vets can get to the bottom of the problem and your piggy is soon feeling better. 🤞🏻

Oh ok! It’s because the blood urine came back, then the vet told me to stop. On the last post I wrote, there was even a small piece of blood in her bathroom (I attached a photo there). I bought the pill because I couldn’t find the liquid version in my city, the vet recommended to go for the pill version; it’s really small and she could take it.

I send a message to the vet last week but didn’t get a reply yet, but will definitely talk to her again
