hi all,

I have a problem with one of my new piggies Squeak. I think he is rumbling at me or growling and i don't know why.

can anyone help me please,

thanks Sarah

Is it a definate rummble? or more of a purr?

Is it only when you hold him?
Maybe, he just doesn't like being held.

My girls rumble if i stroke their fur the wrong way or if they hear keys jingling for some reason lol!

nope it is a definete rumble, he does it when i try to stroke him in his cage too. I have both Pip and Squeak out at the moment and they are hiding under their blanket which is over my crossed legs and they seem ok and there is no rumbling.

Does this mean that Squeak doesn;'t like me?

Mine don't like being stroked near their bums and Nibbles prefers to be held and barely stroked.
I don't think it's about not liking you.
Have you checked to see if he has lice or mites which may be making him uncomfortable.
I wouldn't worry that it is you though. :)
They can all be moody at times.

Both of my boys rumble at me when I check them for lice and brush their fur (particularly around the back end) the wrong way. I wouldn't worry, he'll probably settle down and learn who is boss.

I have two girls Molly and Bridget and usually they both love to be stroked, sometimes however if I reach into the cage to stroke bridget she will rumble at me, I think it is her way of saying " get lost I am not in the modd for a cuddle at the moment"!

My Fugly hates keys and any kind of music have no idea why, my last piggie Bubble loved a good boogie :smitten:

When I take pics of my pigs and they hear the click on the cam they all rumble ;D

I'm a little worried now, when i stroke some of my piggies and tickle down towards their bum they purr or what i thought was a purr, Shiraz does it regardless of where you stroke, is this purring or rumbling?

Stanny,
It probably depends on your situation,
For example; how long have you had your pigs? Are they used to you picking them up or are they new?
Will Shiraz eat while he is on your lap? I find this is a good indication, if mine rumble at me or are scared I give them a treat, they settle down then.

I have read a few times on here that pigs don’t really like being stroked around the back end, it’s probably a rumble.

shiraz seems to rumble whever you stroke her now?!

I took it as a sign of affection, am i being a crap slave?
