Hi, My name is Liz, I previously posted about Squeak who was bonded with Bubbles but we had to seperate them. They are in joining cages now. Squeak's had a horrific time. I've had them 4 months so they are now are just 11 months old now. Every week he"s been to a vet . Moreover for a wound across his back. He'd get it healed and then he'd scratch himself to open it up again. I got him an exotic vet specialist. To cut a long story short his wound was healed and the vet kept him under supervision for a day. Within minutes of the dressing being off he scratched through the skin. She phoned me to say something more must be going on and took xrays. The upshot us he's had blunt trauma to his back which has been damaged in 3 places mainly across his upper thoracic area. So it wasn't Bubbles biting him. Seperated they are very much binded but quaker couldn't go through bonding again.
My problem is finance. I've put everything financially to this and had no savings left a couple of months ago. I hv m.e. and the strain has caused my health to deteriorate. I thought the bandages would come off and squeak would be fine. Not so. We are now trying pain control to see if it can balance the pain and be bandage free. It could take a while to sort. But this is over 60 pounds a month. Its too much for me but I love him/ them so much.
Does anyone know if a sanctuary that would give him a fighting chance? They w.ould need to take them both. I have all the cages ,everything in fact. My Dads helped out a lot with ginance but ongoing I dont see it happening. Squeak needs his meds given him them he will lie on your chest and take his parsley. He hides all day but I think its pain dies it. Otherwise bubbles chirps away getting excited for his parsley and the opening if his cage to run around. Any help appreciated. Liz

I’m sorry to hear this,
just to be clear, you are looking to have them both rehomed? Its never an easy decision but if he needs ongoing vet care and it’s too much for you then you are doing a lovely thing in letting them go to be rehomed.
If so, this is our rescue locator. It looks as if Ayr Guinea pig Rescue is likely to be your closest, so it would be worth you contacting them for help.

Hi and welcome

I am very sorry about your situation. Ayr Guinea Pig Rescue is the best place for you to turn to; they also cover the Glasgow area.

PS: Saving piggy lives whether that is for vet treatment or surrender to a guaranteed rescue space count as essential travel, especially when you can show a confirmation email on your phone, just in case.

So sorry that you are in this situation when you have done so much for them.
You are making a difficult decision out of love and that takes courage.
Holding you in my heart
