Squeak coming out like a whisper

Olaf was attempting to squeak earlier, but I noticed it was just a whisper. I could tell it was supposed to be wheeking, but it didn’t come out as such. That’s about it. If he does it again, I can try to get a video.
He’s 5, and he had dental issues earlier in the year, as well as a neck abscess. He also has a history of soft stool, but it’s gotten better. Is this normal, or is this a significant cause of concern?


I’m usually very paranoid about their health, and I hope I can get some advice on this. I can’t have something else happen to another one of my fur babies.

Merab lost her voice as she grew older.
Her Wheek was a whisper but there was nothing wrong with her apart from age.

I had a senior pig who was attempting to squeak her head off at one point (iirc it was a complaint) and no sound came out. As far as I remember it only happened the once. I remember mentioning it to my vet because I was often there anyway and she (my vet) said it could happen with elderly pigs.

It is not uncommon for a piggy to lose their big wheek as they get older. It is harmless.
