Spud has had a white milky discharge from his right eye for a couple of weeks and crusty sleep around his eye. I keep meaning to take him to the vets but it keeps going away for a few days then coming back. On Wednesday I was cleaning around his eye and I felt a small lump under his eye. I panicked and booked the vets for tomorrow. I got spud out for a cuddle tonight and checked it and the lump seems to have gone but his eye is still very watery and crusty. I've kept the appointment for tomorrow but I'm really worried that I'm either over reacting and he's fine or underreacting and should have taken him when this first started. He's still his usual happy squeaky self I just hope he's OK.

Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
Phoebe had something similar and the vet gave me a cream to put in as she thought there was a slight infection.
It was fine within a few days.
Hope Spud’s eye is fine

Hi!

Better be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to eyes. It can be something as harmless as a blocked tear duct but it can also be something more serious. Only a hands-on vet examination will tell.

Spud went to the vet this morning. His eye was looking quite good really so there wasn't much to show the vet. She's given us antibiotic eye drops for the next 5 days and hopefully that will clear up any infection. If not he may need to go to have the tear duct flushed out to make sure it's not blocked but hopefully the eye drops will do the job and he'll be fine.

Sending Spud healing vibes and whatever it is can be easily sorted x

One of mine had an on-and-off weep eyes for a few months (of course it was always fine when she got to the vets!) it wasn’t crusty though. The Vets thought she could have blocked tear duct but eventually I, very briefly, saw a piece of hay in her nose when she had a sneeze and she sniffed it back up again. Vets had to knock her out to get the hay out and it was a sizeable bit and her eyes were fine after that!
I hope Spud’s issue is just as easy to sort!
