I got the pigs a new cage and stand jobby off a buy sell swap and it needs some tlc.

The base was a bit grubby but I tried the vinegar tip, I put it in a milk pan and my eyes nearly melted from the smell :)) and I might have jumped up and down when the wee stains fizzed off, it just needs a good scrub with some fairy liquid and hot water now.

The metal cage top however is another matter entirely. It has no clips and the little plastic bits you get to hold the metal sturdy and in place are missing too but they've improvised with cables ties which is what I was going todo anyway.

It has been exposed to the elements though and is rusted in places. I am wanting to put it in my bedroom. So I was thinking I'd spray paint it...

Now I've googled it and only really found some information about parrot cages and they say look for child safe blah blah. I then found some contradicting information saying "no such thing as child safe spray paint".

My boys don't chew the bars but at this moment in time I'm thinking its probably not a good idea.

So i'm basically looking for either everyone to go "NO" or to go "there's this super duper pet safe spray paint" at the end of the day I can live with a bit of rust it'd just be nice to make it look pretty.

I'd be ultra wary too rolleyes
Could you look for some grids people use for making C&C pens with and try and put those in instead - pimp my pen :))
We built bases and used boxes of grids cut down to around 8" high on our main set up so the pens are open (other pet/children permitting of course)
The other two pens we have, OH used willow trellis and a piece off a small outdoor run cut to size and shaped.

I've never thought of spray painting my cage before ...
Hmmm ... hopefully someone can come up with something as it sounds like a really good idea to make it a little more attractive. (:
