Hi everyone, after months of trying we’ve finally learned how to catch and clip claws. It involved waiting till they are under their blankets and scooping them up and then taking blanket off to reveal one p*ssed off piggy. Then we clip whichever claws need and have a little cuddle at the same time. So far so good, but today I picked up Renton to do his overlong back feet, my husband clipped, but unusually Renton was whining , he had his left leg tangled in my t shirt, I disentangled him, but noticed now he *might* have a slight limp on his left his leg. He still climbed into the castle and moving around the cage , but when he tried to fully weight bear (scratching with his right leg) he seemed to find that hard and unbalanced. (He’s usually got excellent balance, does a very good meerkat impression). If it doesn’t clear up in a day or so I will of course be booking a vet appointment, but I feel it’s a bit premature to rush to the vet whilst he’s still using the leg, ( that journey in Itself is traumatic for all involved) and my husband says he can’t see a limp at all. Maybe it’s in my head-I feel very guilty, but he’s all legs when we are handing him, he hates it and struggles. So my question is is there anything more I should be watching out for other than , not using his leg, limping , heat it swelling? Thank you kindly in advance any advice. 😕 ❤️❤️❤️

Hi!

If your boy is still active, it is just a very mild sprain and should hopefully settle in a few hours or a day or so. :tu:
If you have any concerns, please see a vet.

They can be wriggly little beggars at times and strong too lol. I hate cutting the claws. They don’t make the job easy 😂. I think he’s just twisted a toe or stretched his leg/foot a bit too much. I'm sure he’ll be back to normal balance and use in a couple of days.
Don’t feel bad either. One of the hardest jobs is trimming their nails I think.
