I've noticed my guinea pig hasn't been eating or pooping much and she had a wet behind when i picked her up to check on her. I cleaned her up and noticed she had this spot on her underside and couldn't find anything online that looks like it, it's a brownish colored lump and at first i thought it was just a smooshed piece of poop that got stuck to her but it wouldn't come off when i cleaned the area with a rag. i'm trying to figure out how to add a photo now, but i managed to get her to drink and eat a little bit of wet food before i had to leave for work.

Here is the photo now that i figured it out

If she isn’t eating enough hay, please step in with syringe feeding either mushed pellets or a recovery feed to replace lost hay intake, switch from the routine weekly weight checks and instead weigh her daily (at the same time each day) so you can monitor independent hay intake as well as to ensure enough syringe feed is being given and see a vet.

Hi and welcome

It could be a scab or something stuck to the skin, which looks rather like your piggy is suffering from urine scald as a secondary complication - a scabbing sore could also be a secondary issue to your piggy either not moving around a lot and sitting in their urine and faeces or to a health issue causing increased urination (could be a urinary tract infection, a kidney problem or something else). You will need to see a vet for hands-on consultation since the underlying cause is not at all obvious.

Please always step in promptly with support feeding if your guinea pig is losing weight. Our feeding guide contains a chapter on how to improvise in an emergency or until you can get hold of the necessary longer term formula.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck at the vets. I hope it’s something easily treatable.
