Hi everyone,

I went to bed last night and woke up this morning to find one of my girls acting weird. She’s eating normally and seems okay overall. However, she won’t go down one end of the cage for some strange reason. I think she may have been spooked in the night or something, but I checked around and everything seemed fine. She is in heat at the moment and is having a strong one so maybe that could be the reason? I have two girls who are both in heat but one will happily go down there. I picked her up this morning to give her a health check and she is perfectly fine. I cleaned them out on Monday and I cleaned the hideys to get rid of the scent as they were arguing now and again so maybe that is it?

I'm not an expert on guinea pig behavior but I must say when my young girl is on heat, she really acts differently to her normal self. I have noticed Guinea pigs are quite complex and more goes on in their brain than you might have originality thought. I would probably keep an aye on her and see how things progress.

When my girls are on heat they act differently. More energetic, chasing and jumping but it’s always been playful and never aggressive. I have two younger babies who are approaching four months and they are completely fine

Hi

Piggies can sometimes get spooked by something we wouldn't notice as their senses (apart from their eyesight) are finer then ours. Just leave her be and see whether things normalise again within a few days.

Overall she is fine. She is eating and acting her normal self, just won’t go in a particular area. I’m just concerned as her water bottle is in that area

Just move the bottle out of that area and see whether that makes a difference.
