Hi, I'm new to the group and have been advised to post here!

My nearly 7 year old piggy Ruby has loss the use of her back legs. The vet has diagnosed Spondylosis of the spine and she is on 0.36ml of metacam twice a day. She is her usual perky self and is eating and drinking well. Just wondered if I can improve her mobility in any way.

Thank you 😊

Thank you. She is on cat metacam.
If it is cat metacam then this is a very low dose, so if she doesn't improve I would raise this with the vet.
I also meant to ask how the vet diagnosed spondylosis? Was it with x-rays?

Ok, thank you I will speak to the vet again, no she didn't have x-rays.

We have a piggy who is 6.5 years old and has arthritis in her spine she has been prescribed 0.7ml of dog Metacam twice daily and also Gabapentin. In addition we give her 4Joints (0.4ml once a day which we buy from Amazon). These meds combined have made a big difference to her mobility, she has gone from hardly moving to almost her old self, wandering around her cage and attacking the carrot cottage with gusto.

I would definitely speak to your vet as arthritis can be managed and your piggy can be made comfortable with the right medication.

Thanks for your reply, was wondering if there was something I could give her for her joints. I've been reading conflicting things about Osteocare. We are seeing the vet again tomorrow I will definitely have a chat. She still begs for her food and gets excited when it comes. She will do anything for a cherry tomato!

I hope that your vet can give her some more pain relief as it makes such a difference. Hope she is feeling better soon.x
