Split ends wont go away!

How come i got split ends still after just getting my hair done? i got the length cut so i shouldnt have any yet i look at my layers and the ends are streaming and look soo messed up :'( shall i just shave my head and start all over again!?

When I was badly anaemic my hair all broke off. I went to a tricologist. She recommended the following:

Before you wash it, rub olive oil into the bottom couple of inches. When you use shampoo only shampoo the roots and scalp. Don't use conditioner at this stage. When you have towelled it dry apply a little conditioner to the split ends. Rub it in and don't wash it off. You might think you end up with greasy hair but you don;t and it really works.
