IMG_5308.webp Hi, I have 1 boar Guinea pig and my parents will not let me get any males to go with him. They said I could get a female and split the cage ( picture attached ) is this enough company or do I need to do more convincing!

Why would your parents not consider another male?

If your piggy is a whole (un neutered male) then it would be a real risk having him in a separated c and c. Boars are known to climb, jump, burrow and break through divides to get to a sow in heat. So you would be risking pregnancy.

Also, you then have 2 piggies living alone. Or are you considering neutering him? If so please wait 6 weeks before introducing him to a lady friend.

Have they said why they don't want another male?

I'm really not sure why to be honest they are just really adamant they don't want another male :(

I don't know but for some reason they really do not want another male :( maybe I can say something like I would split the cage but have 2 males and once she sees them together I could say maybe we should bond them ? What do you think shall I give it a try ?

You have a lovely set up .

Guinea pigs can live reasonably happily if they are separated - and can chat to other guinea pigs through the grids - but I would never get them with the intention of doing this.

I think the male would get to the female over the barrier.I got a separate cage to keep my boy away from my girls. It isn't worth the risk.I would try to persuade them to let you get a boy living alongside them try to bond them.If it doesn't work then they can live side by side
