Hi all,

I gave one of my guniea pigs their first dose of antibiotics at 2am! Hard to explain but I had to start then. The instructions are twice a day so I was wondering when I should do the next dose and do I have to do the other dose at 2am now? I'm thinking maybe just one in the morning at like 10am and then wait till the following day to start them properly. I'm not sure what to do. Can you help me please

If it's twice a day then I wouldn't do another one at 10am, that's too soon. Guinea pig metabolise quickly so having them twice a day is to keep the antibiotics in their system. I would probably hold off until around 4pm so you are a couple of hours late and then do tomorrow morning's one a couple of hours later so around 6-7am. Then you should be able to do them around 12 hours apart from when you first wake up.

I wouldn't be overly precious with it though, there are times with working that my piggies got it earlier in the morning and not until late in the evening.

Hi!

Please give the second antibiotic dose before you go to bed and then start trying to keep more evenly spaced out with ideally at least 10 hours in between.
