Hi,
I have ordered a c and c cage for my impending piggies and on all the photos it looks like there is a part of plastic wall without grid, just next to the top of the ramp. Is this a fall hazard for lively pigs? Obviously I’ll know more when it arrives and we build it, but it seems odd to me as everything else about these cages looks so good.

Do you mean like this?

None of mine have ever fallen off or tried to jump down, and I think if anypig ever would then our mad lady Piggle (the blonde piggy near the bottom of the photo) would have tried this already!

When I had lofts like the one in the photo I overlapped and cable tied a spare grid to fill the space. My young and energetic piggies would have jumped over it. At one time when I didn't have a spare grid I used a baking cooling tray!

The strange table leg in the photo is because there's another cage above this one on the table!

If you’re worried you can add an extra grid in the space and cut out some of the squares where the top of the ramp is before placing it. Make sure you file any sharp bits after cutting, to prevent accidents.

Yes, that’s the one I mean (ours is also purple!), I haven’t got any spare grids but I definitely think I will put something there in case they are very bouncy little guys.

If anyone is still around, we have just built the cage and if we secure the ramp so that it overlaps nicely, there is quite a gap between the back wall and the grid. I assume they have been cutting out these things for years no so won’t have sent me a duff one, but it’s a worry as the piggies will only be six weeks old that they may get stuck down there. Did anyone else have trouble with the top of the ramp as this bit has been a right pain to sort out today?

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean, but I didn't have a loft and ramp with my cage, we made our own later after buying extra grids. I fixed my loft with cable ties partway down the grid as I don't like the full grid height lofts that come with the commercially made cages. I think they are too high and make the ramps too steep but that's just a personal opinion. Hope someone else will be along soon for you.

I’ve never had a problem with any of mine falling down the gap - and some of them have been very springy!
