Just wondering. My sows don't seem very affectionate towards each other. They never seem to snuggle up together. And generally try to dodge one and other. Say if I top up their litter tray with hay. Peachy will go sit in it but Pepsi will nibble from the edge. Then they have a piglu which is big enough for two but they never go in together or if they do one gets chased out. To avoid each other particularly in the smaller sleeping area in the hutch they even jump over each other. Is this normal? Would love my girls to be best friends. Mind you I've only had them for 2-3 weeks and they're only about 8-9 wks old.

It sounds like dominance is in full swing!

Not all piggies are snuggly, though. That doesn't mean that they won't become best of friends in the long run.

Some pigs just don't like to snuggle up with each other. It doesn't mean that they aren't best friends! My 2 girls are like this too, they never snuggle up with each other but I know they love each other really!

My Lola and Angel bicker all the time but never come to full blown fights. Its Angel laying down the law as to who is sleeping with Rebel for the night. When I open them up in the morning for breakfast, all 3 are usually sleeping cuddled together. :)

Some pigs aren't snuggly. Sometimes they will be later but it develops in time. We have a long-term pair of sows- Linney is almost four and Sundae is about two and a half. They've always gotten along well in the sense of not fighting, but only in the past six months or so am I likely to find the two of them sharing the pigloo at the same time. I chalk it up to Linney, the more dominant sow, getting more mellow with age. She would never have let a 'subordinate' in the pigloo with her when she was younger!
