Sows rumbling?

I've read a few posts on here about males fighting, etc, and even a few about females. But, I do have one question.

Long story short - after living on her own for two months, we got our 1 year old sow a littermate to keep her company. She was always begging us for attention when we walked by her cage, and between 4 homeschooled kids, a Memory Bear making business and a hubby who likes to go out on adventures, I didn't have more than an hour or two a day to actually sit on the floor and play w/ her, so we thought she would like a friend. So, we got Penny, who was just weaned from her mom. After some strange behavior from Penny and a 14 day quarantine, we started introducing the girls to eachother. They got on fine outside of the cage, so I cleaned out the big cage, rearranged things and let them try it out. There was about 5 minutes of chasing and that was it. Now, a few days later, I noticed the pigs are making a loud rumbling/purring noise. I can hear it a room away. ?/ Is this normal? I haven't figured out which pig is making the noise - does it matter?

I've checked numerous times and I'm 99.9% sure Penny is a girl (although I am no expert, and she's very wiggly and hard to zero in on), so I don't think there is any actual mating going on. Although, I am certainly no expert, and she's very wiggly and hard to zero in on. When would a scrotum become visible in a baby?

Did I say this was going to be a short story? Sorry. :red

ok,
dominance between sows isnt abnormal as long as they aren't seriously hurting each other its not to much of a worry, try adding two of everything in the cage like bowls and hidey houses, that may help if they dont have to share everything.
Ok this will be fun
99.9% really isnt enough seeing as any risk of a pregnancy should be enough to cause concern;).
Ok if possible can we have some pics of your girls bits and you can try this also

i have have 6 Boars and all of there bits came at different times, some vey young and others took longer so age can't really say if they should have them x

Best take them to a vet to have them sexed, if you are not completely sure, anyway!

But I think you've got sows, unless you've got a LOT of chasing and humping attempts going on with one of your rumbling piggies.

If they are just standing close and rumblestrutting against each other, it is sorting out the pecking order, and she who rumbles last, wins! Don't be afraid, if there is a bit of head butting and bullying to come when the dominant sow cements her position. It is part and parcel of piggie society, and won't mean that they won't become best of friends later! Depending on the character, this can take a few days to a few weeks.

You may occasionally see a repeat of the rumbling and even mounting when one of your sows comes into season roughly every couple of weeks.

Enjoy your girls and keep us posted - preferably with pics, so we can see who they are!
