Hi all ,

I have three sows, Grace and Petal both around 10-11 months old and Graces baby Dot who is 3 weeks old. Petal and grace were bonded from when i got a rescue to pair them up a few months ago until recently, when last week I had to separate them as one was bullying the other something rotten. One of my pigs has been vet checked by Jenny at Tilehurst vets and despite a clean bill of health has a head tilt and is wobbly and when Grace, the mum would go for her sometimes it would make her fall over and panic and I worry she will get hurt during these falls. She'd also sit outside where Petal slept and stop her coming out for food. Since I removed Petal mum and baby haven't been happier, pop Corning away but poor Pet seems so depressed. She eats well but does nothing but sit in the same spot once the food is all gone.
I can't let her continue to live alone so I was wondering if you thought it was best I took Petal dating to find a new buddy or try reintroduce her to mum and baby? Baby has been weaned now xx

I know what your problem is I had the exact same go to the three teenage piggy alert it has all the answers best wishes Astrid x

Thank you! I've just had a read, what was your plan of action in the end and how are things now? Xx

Hi! While guinea pigs can be very supportive of disabled group members that have proven they can keep up with the group, they will bully those whose health problems would endanger the survival of the group as a whole.

If I were you, I would not try to bond them again, but rather look for a suitable, caring sow or very laid back neutered boar in a rescue.

Thank you Wiebke, I thought that might be the safest and fairest thing to do as mum and baby are much happier without her around! I'll contact those rescues and get her dating

Best of luck! Hopefully, one of the rescue has exactly what you are looking for. It pays asking around if you are searching for a very special character and to go that extra distance.

Thank you, I will contact them and explain the situation! Piggies hey! They always keep us busy :lol!:
