Here i am again :(
Esme, Ester & Bijou have lived "happily" together for approx 5 months but lately Ester has turned into a nightmare where Bijou's concerned, constant chasing, rumbling, chattering & pinning her into pigloos (past 7-10 days this has been happening)

Today Esme & Ester have literally been glued to one another & every time Bijou has gone near has Ester made it clear she's intruding & chased her away.

It is sad for me to see those 2 snuggled together with Bijou at the opposite end on her own so i had a bright idea, i introduced Lolly thinking it'd even up the numbers - Ester went berserk, Lolly was wheeking her head off & trying to hide behind Esme in a pigloo with Ester laid outside waiting. I took Lolly out.

My next bright idea & this is how it is at the mo
Esme & Ester in a hutch by themselves, Bijou is with Howie, Lolly & Looby.
Howie hates Bijou & non-stop chatters at her but i think it's because she smells strange. So far she hasn't retaliated, but his
chattering has un-nerved the L's who were huddled in a pigloo & daren't touch the veggies.

My question: Is Ester's obsessive behaviour normal? Could she be in season & once the hormones have stopped raging she'll be ok? Would she accept Bijou again if i try tomorrow or should i leave as is & hope the new group accept one another.

Just lately it seems i can't do right for doing wrong with my piggies :(

This sounds like Rocky and Cozzie. I can no longer let them in the run together which is sad - and a nuisance at mucking out time! Rocky is fine with Riffy, generally OK with Toony, but Cozzie - no way. :(

Was Rocky always this way with Cozzie or is it lately? I really don't know what's happened to Ester, everyone was fine, it was Bijou who was the "bad" one with Bayou :(

Just to add: I didn't edit your post Lucinda, i pressed modify instead of quote - fool i am 98)

They didn't hit it off too well, then they would tolerate each other, now they try to kill each other. ::)

Oh no! :(

Don't know what to do for the best, try to re-intro tom or leave Bijou with Howie & hope they bond with each other :-\

I don't know what to advise. :-\

Try to avoid Bloodshed is a good start ;D

;D ;D ;D Almost had that today which is why i separated 'them. Hopefully Howie will like her smell by tomorrow & all will be well O0

Someone suggested them sharing a bath together but the thought of trying to control those two in water is not enticing

I have never had a problem introducing Sows.
I get a bit of rumbling for the first half hour and then i find they settle down to munch veggies then go off for a sleep together.
we have 2 sets of 3 and a set of 5 between me and my sister with no problems from any of them

lol I shouldnt say that whats the bet they fall out now :o

;D ;D I do hope not.
I have problems introducing anyone ::)
These 3 have lived happily for approx 6 months, i just don't know what's gotten into Ester - it's like she's insanely possessive of Esme & doesn't want Bijou anywhere near :(

Sometimes cystic ovaries can make sows a bit feisty apparently- never noticed it in any of mine though. Once mine have settled then they're fine. I have one group that won't share a house with anyone so 6 houses for 6 guineas are in their pen and they all retire to their own house the others are more co operative :)

I can't give you any advice, but i can just hope it all sort out for you love :-\ :-\ :-\

Hugs from us for you :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Mostly sows are fine but you do get the odd awkward one! Esther sounds very much like my Possum - I have tried many many times to get her to bond with the other girls here but she hates everyone apart from her sister Flo. I've given up now and just have them in a pair as its not worth the others being upset by her!

I also have Whinnie who is generally horrible to other sows but has settled with a neutered boar and since then she will also let other placid sows live with them. She really hates another sow of mine called Treacle though and rattles her teeth etc if she goes anywhere near them even at floor time so again I just keep them apart from each other.

I'm so glad i'm not alone Kate ;D ;D
Ester did like Bijou it's only lately she's decided Esme is HERS ::)
No bloodshed with the new foursome, they look like they're settling down, apart from the odd bit of chasing from Bijou toward the L's but they were all happily munching veggies together earlier which is a step up from yesterday O0
