Hey...

So far my two new girlies have been getting on fine with my other four. A few little squabbles...but these seem to have settled down.

Lately I have noticed Luna (who Snowdrop and Cookie seemed to have pushed down from being top sow) attempting to mount the other girls. She was majorly jumping on Snowdrop just now and snowdrop didn't seem remotely bothered.

I have never seen this before! Is this normal? Should I be worried at all?

Thank you!

This is totally normal. It means she is trying to say she is the boss. Sows do this when they are in season.

When I first got my three I was astonished to see Mummy pig (then 12 months) squishing her poor baby girl (about 8 weeks old) after chasing her around the cage! Poor baby was flattened, she squealed loudly too & it wasn't nice to watch but I think as they were in a new home Mummy pig was establishing the hierarchy again.

Baby was fine & they all now get along ok & it is perfectly normal in Piggyworld :)

Ahhh ok - thank you for that!

I think I've just been shocked as...despite having 3 girls before I added my other two...I had never seen this happen! Lots of rumblestrutting etc - but no mounting.

Thank you kindly for your inputs :D
