Hi all,

A friend at work gave me 3 sows last year, two 1 year olds (Ginny & Princess) that lived together and a 2 year old that was on her own (Autumn). My friend had originally had Autumn and bought the other 2 to live with her. Autumn did not take to the new pigs so they were kept separate.

Since coming to live with me I've tried Autumn with Ginny & Princess again, I've tried her with my other 2 sows Mini and Dola, Shes even met Nugget my neutered boar, but she always insists on causing a fight.

The other pigs are pretty timid and are happy to avoid conflict but Autumn will chase them around constantly and drive them mad. I've never had problems introducing a neutered boar to females but Autumn even chased him around and bullied him.

Are some pigs just meant to live alone? I've tried all the tricks and tips, new cages, having baths, giving tasty food to distract but nothing

She can see and hear other pigs but all she really enjoys is food, shes always looking for treats and shes pretty good with people. I took her (along with nugget) into a school earlier in the year and she had 2 classes of Y4's petting her and she still seemed pretty relaxed.

I've just rescued a 5 month old male and when hes fit enough I plan on having him neutered but I doubt Autumn will like him :mal::)):))

A few piggies just don't get on with others and prefer to have their own space. If at all possible, just make sure that they still have constant interaction and stimulation with their own kind through the bars as neighbouring guinea pigs.
