Sow Bonding

Hi All,

As you all know I've put Flora and Fleur with Amber and Pearl today in the hutch that was previously used by the boys (I scrubbed it last night to get rid of any boar smell) Things aren't too bad between them although Pearl seems very skittish and won't let Flora and Fleur near her sometimes Amber will sit with her but then she goes off with my older 2!

Fleur is chasing Pearl a little as she just wants to smell her and say hello but Pearl won't have it. Is there anything I can do to help them? I've give them a big bowl of food to share and half of it has gone but they are all interested in one another!

They've all been having a good gab! But I'm justw orried Pearl will be left out! I hope not!

I've no experience of bonding DSows just naughty boars! :D

Oh bless them!

I think it's best to let them get on with it - to a certain extent! My sows I've always just popped the new one in and kept an eye on them, but they do normally sort themselves out unless you've got one that's particularly dominant - like my Buffy RIP!

I think once they've settled she won't be left in a corner by herself - she's just not as forward going, bless her! :smitten:
 
Thanks Sophie, she is coming around but now Amber has gone a little timid. Fleur has teeth chattered because she is getting frustrated. It doesn't help me going in all the time checking...lol So I'm just listening out for them any major squeals I'll sort them out.

Flora has had a good smell of Amber. I think once the new girls realise that the older ones aren't going to hurt them they will be ok. :)
 
Nope cos I've put them all in a new area. Didn't think of that! :D They seem ok at the mo though! :)
 
They are fine now Fleur and Pearl were eating Readigrass last night before bedtime and Flora is ok with them now as well. I tunred the lights out and I only heard one squeek from Pearl but they have been quiet all night. Haven't checked on them yet, will do when I come back from the school run. If I disturb Sunshine anytime before 8:30 he goes mad...lol :D
 
does little sunshine need his beauty sleep? 2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny just sounds so funny the whole house is being run by a piggie. when choloe passed away and we got jessie to keep zoe company, we introduced very slowly as zoe would chatter teeth and boss jessie around which was very unusal for zoe as choloe would boss zoe around. every time jessie got too close zoe would go for her. then we put a cooling rack into zoe's box and halved it up so they could smell and see eachother but not fight. now however that jessie has grown she bosses zoe around and when in heat jessie humps zoe, wobbles her rump, chases zoe etc. so it is lucky for zoe she is on a special diet for her soft poops so her and jessie aren't together at present they are in a halved cage. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls like boys will sort out a pecking order and who is boss. just keep an eye on them and hopefully they will sort things out peacefully. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: hugs and cuddles to you and your fur babies. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
 
Thanks Mary! I noticed they were sorting out the pecking order with Flora rumbling but Amber was doing it back, little minx! :D

Sunshine does rule the roost he has a new trick, standing on his igloo and trying to escape from the cage at the top! So I've had to lock it up! He is huge! Twinkle fell off his igloo yesterday! ;D He was ok, just bruised his massive ego! :)
