I have searched this but it keeps bring me up lots of things not to do with sound :D I am wondering if all guinea pig sounds are the same and if they mean the same thing. What I am assuming to be one thing my hubby recons it's another, so iif anyone can help me I would so appreciate it.

(((Drrr drrr))) sounds it's continuous and they are walking around while doing it ? or getting ready to eat something.

Squeak, squeak, these are shorts squeaks but last for ages, it actually sounds like someone rubbing a window ?

What I can only describe as whistling :-\ it is like a chirping/whistling sound ? they were doing this this morning for absolute ages ?

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeak, one long squeak, I Thought it was pain or crying ?

I would so love to hear all advice

Thans for that i found that very useful too O0

that walking about brrring is a either mating sighn or dominance thing... boars usually do it but girls do too, it happens when they trying to sort out ranks
the rubbing window noises are them chatting to youor each other.... love it it does sound like mini window cleaners haha.
that birdie noise is werid innit, sounds like baby chicks.... i think its just a happy noise...
that whhekkkkk wheeekkkkk wheeekkkkk noise basically is reserved for thier humans it is basically begging for food haha..... :smitten:

They get so much food that I had to cut back, I always leave dry food in the cage and twice a day they get treats of fresh chopped vegetables, should I be giving them more.?

no they just being greedy ;D... if they getting veggies 2x a day and unlimited hay and dry food sounds like they having enough, they whhek at u to remind you its food time, they like routine ;D

Hi..

Talking about Guinea pigs sound.. if 2 male GPs is house together, and 1 of the GP will always make a "grrrr grrrr" deep sound to another when he is near them.
Sometimes when the phone rang.. he also make this "grrrr grrrr" sound.. hmmm~
What does this "grrr grrr" sound means?
Sometimes when i hold him.. he will make this "grrrr" sound too. and his body is trembling :-\

If he makes that sound to another male then I guess it's a warning to back off, when the phone rings his sound means "what's that noise?", sometimes they make a gentler purring sound when being stroked which tends to mean "I like that it's nice".

Hmmm.. i hope that is gentle purring.. but it dun seems like a gentle purring.. it seems like he is so afraid of me in my lap!
:'(

when i fist got piggys i had two... when i got them in my lap they would vibrate and shake... i think it was nerves and being scared, they just have to get used to thier new friendly giants

Twinkle used to vibrate quite a lot. He no longer does it anymore as he has become more confident around us. I put it down to him being a randy teenager bt looking back he was probably nervous. He is very calm and tame now but it has taken 9 months to get there with him! :smitten:

Wow.. 9 months! there's reallie long.. hahahaha i guess Guinea piggies reallie need a lot of patience.. i thought its me who keep talking to them and they got scared of me. hahahahaa xx0 xx0 xx0

yeaaa, they keep vibrating! and making some loud high pitch sound.. hmm... sometimes when i took their food bowl away to refill and wash... they make the high pitch sound too! hahaahaa.. and digging the beddings for their "bowl' rofl~
