Hi everyone!

Gross boar problems incoming... one of my boys, Kooky, has been having some problems keeping himself clean lately, and for the past month or so I've been having to clean his bits every few days and remove sperm rods (as well as almost marble sized lumps of what I think is smegma that occasionally come out when I push out his penis). He is 1 and a half and only began having this problem in the past few months.

Something I've noticed when cleaning him is that there appears to be what looks like little white spots on his foreskin? I thought they were bits of excess smegma but they don't seem to come off when wiped with a cotton bud... they look almost like little pimples, the same size as ones a person might get and I could see maybe 3 or 4 on him. I've searched everywhere online to see if there's anyone else who's experienced this with their piggy but can't seem to find anything! Could it maybe be an infection? I've not found any information on infections that present like this in piggies. He is not acting any different to his usual self, though he is generally a lazy pig so if sleeping more/less active I maybe wouldn't notice. Still eating and drinking fine!

Is it time for a vet visit? Any information or advice would be highly appreciated!

I’ve not got any experience of this but it definitely sounds like something is going on. So I’d get him seen by a vet. Good luck. Keep us posted.

It's always a good idea to see a vet if you're unsure of anything. A vet would rather see a healthy piggie and a paranoid owner than an ill piggie and an owner that has left it too late. Let us know what the vet says.

Thank you! Yes I suspected something isn't right since he started needing cleaning so often but he seemed otherwise healthy so I just kept an eye out and hoped it would resolve itself. I'll get him booked in at the vet.

Thank you! I totally agree. Of course it had to happen right before Christmas 🤦🏼‍♀️ My vets surgery is really good though, I trust that they'll be a big help whatever the problem is.

Just an update, I checked him again tonight and the "pimples" look bigger and are definitely a skin abnormality, not just stubborn dirt. I checked my other 2 boars bits and they are both healthy-looking- (one is neutered and lives with girls, and one is not and is Kooky's pal). Will make a vet appt tomorrow morning.
