Hi all, just checking my girls for the night and saw this on my sow Chess...

Wondered if anyone had any idea what it may be?

Hi!

Please see a vet; it will need a hands-on examination tomorrow.

Vets done, looks like a trauma injury, most likely haypoke, so she's on Rhemuocam and Remend eye drops for 7 days and then a follow up so 🤞

Now to deal with dirty looks after giving her a syringe full of meds 🤣

Glad it’s nothing too bad. Lots of veggies to bribe her.

Well done for getting her seen so promptly. Hope she is soon feeling better

Good that you have had her seen promptly. The recovery is usually pretty straight forward. It is always important to make sure that the eye surface has not impacted as eye injuries can deteriorate very quickly when not seen promptly. UK vets will see potential eye injuries as soon as they can for that reason.

Thank you - yes the vet mentioned earlier about eye injuries. She had her colleague, an ophthalmology specialist, check her eye out just to double check it wasn't an infection of the, I believe they said, Conjunctiva (could be wrong), so fingers crossed the treatment works well :)

The conjunctiva is the tissue surrounding the eyeball. :tu:
The end of a hay stalk, when it is caught like that can end up in either the conjunctiva or in the eye.
