Oh Buttercup. She has a sore foot, noticed Saturday. She was very very sick at the middle and end of last week. And because of that her rear end has been pretty wet. Also, to try to help with GI stasis/bloat, I was having her do a lot of walking on Friday.

Anyway, I started epsom salts soaks 2x a day and silver sulfadiazine cream. Also hold her with her foot in the air after applying it so it has a chance to soak in for about 10 minutes.

Tonight it looks worse than this morning so Ive wrapped it with a small square of non stick gauze and that stretchy wrap that sticks to itself.

I'll be sending these same photos to the vet. She may not have any availability very soon.

Buttercup is on meloxicam .21 once a day and 10 units of buprenorphine injection once a day already for her other issues. She's also at the end of a course of antibiotics.

All day she stayed in the very soft pillow/cushion hiding places I made for her and waited for food to be delivered to her, lol. After putting her back with the wrapped foot, she seemed eager to try walking on it! And now is resting comfortably.

Thoughts on how this looks? Ive watched a few treatment videos and see it could be MUCH worse. Ugh. There does seem to be a bit of fluid under the surface.

Poor buttercup. It’s great that you have noticed it and are already trying to help it. I hope the vet can help further. ❤️

Oh no. That looks sore indeed. I found vet bed very useful for a poorly pig who would tend to sit in one place. Much better absorption to help protect feet. I also found aloe Vera and F10 barrier cream excellent for helping clear up bumblefoot once the sores have closed.

Hope you can get her seen by the vet ASAP
Sending love

Thank you all! It’s 5am and the pigs are having breakfast. Buttercup still has the bandage on and came out of her cushioned hiding place to stand and bite the bars as she impatiently waited for some cucumber.

I'm going to soak her foot after 8am and rewrap (that is when the vet opens too, and will call).

Will update on how it looks under the bandage at that time.

I figure she didn’t move for about 3 days straight, and then I basically forced her to walk around for 5 minutes when her bloat/stasis was bad bad bad. I will look up some US equivalents of the stuff you mentioned above :)

Yes, when one of mine was in hospital he didn’t move and ended up with bumblefoot as a result of urine.

I think you should be able to find Vet bed of some sort on Amazon :)
I got F10 cream from the vet, but I’m sure that’s on Amazon too.
I soaked his feet twice a day with Epsom salts. He quite enjoyed spa time in the end! Then after thorough drying I would apply aloe Vera (pure) and some Sulfadiazine based cream from my vet.
I would also apply F10 barrier cream about an hour later and constantly change his vet bed.

Thank you all again 🙂

Ive got her booked for Friday at 1:30. Which I hope my husband can make because I will be at work!

I'm encouraged by how it looks after taking last night's bandage off. It's definitely not WORSE. There was just a small amount of fluid on the bandage. Reddish, not yellow or green. And judging by how dirty the bottom of the bandage was, I'm glad the wound was protected.

I gave her one more bupenorphine injection too. She's been on it 6 days now for her bladder/straining issue. I want to go "as needed" with that but didn't want to take any chances with her recovery now that we have the foot to deal with.
