Hi there! I picked up two 12 weeks old boars on Wednesday and they are already very much loved members of the family! I’ve noticed one of them appears to have a patch of soreness around their eye and I wondered if anyone had any insights as to what this could be? Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello and welcome. If you post a clear picture someone with more knowledge will be along soon.

If you use the attach files button you can post photos from your phone/device so we can have a look.
My suspicion (but without photos it’s just an educated guess) is that you may have a touch of ringworm.
I’m going to link the relevant guide as if it is ringworm or suspected ringworm you will need to take precautions as it can spread to humans
Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

You will need to see a vet for confirmation and treatment.

If you bought your piggies from a pet shop they should help with costs of treatment

Hi and welcome

Please see a vet for a hands-on diagnosis and the appropriate medication. You can reclaim any vet cost from the place you bought your piggies from as part of your customer rights for having been in effect sold damaged ware. We cannot diagnose sight unseen, nor are we qualified to replace a vet.

Please do not touch the area and do not home treat with any creams etc. in case it is ringworm, a highly contagious fungal skin infection that can be transmitted to humans and other pets. If your vet diagnoses ringworm, then thorough hygiene and a vet grade disinfectant like F10 (widely available online) are of utmost importance in order to get on top of it once and for all. Our ringworm hygiene guide is very detailed and contains all the practical how-to information to do that if you follow it properly; we know from our own experiences on here that it really works.
With any ringworm just next to eye, we strongly recommend to ask for oral treatment as topically ones can swell the eye when applied right next to the eye. You will need to treat both piggies as the companion is likely already infected, too.
Please accept that this is NOT a diagnosis and just a guess.

Take the time to read the links below. You will find them very helpful:

Looks fungal, they need to see a vet. Good advice from members above

I agree that looks like fungal. Please take precautions yourself when handling to prevent you catching it. The vets can diagnose and prescribe treatment for you. Oral systemic treatment is the best and quickest way to get on top of the infection. Good luck - let us know how you get on,
