Hi
Our Tilly has an emergency appointment st the vet. She has something lodged in her mouth- appears stuck on her front bottom teeth. It looks very much like a piece of wood. I’ve no idea where she could have got this apart from her hay. We buy hay from Pets at home. Is there w better supplier of hay for Guineas?

Also- does anyone know if Tilly will be sedated? I also can’t decide if Betty her cagemate should come- I know that’s sometimes the right thing but she becomes quite distressed if Tilly becomes distressed and Tilly doesn’t like to be handled.

Any advice appreciated.

I hope the vet manages to remove the wood without needing to sedate Tilly. Poor thing. Must be very uncomfortable for her. If Betty won’t keep Tilly calm then it’s probably best if she stays at home.

One of mine has a bit of twig stuck to his teeth after I gave them some natural forage from rosewood. I managed to get it off without damaging his teeth thanks goodness. I’ve never bought the stuff again!

It was a really hard seed head. Vet managed to get it out without any sedation which is a small miracle as Tilly hates to be handled. Back happily eating hay again. I think I will look into a better quality hay as I’m always seeing sticks and things on it!

That’s brilliant glad you saw it before it caused more of a problem. Well done.
