I have some questions about C&C grid cages I would like help with please :) I'm thinking about making a 4ftX2ft C&C grid pen for two guineas. Where can I get the grids from? And if they come in packs how many packs would I need to buy to make a 4ftX2ft cage? How do they work exactly, are they heavy so the guineas can't move the cage? Because it would be an open top cage how high would it need to be so the guineas can't get out? I'd be so worried about them climbing out! Are C&C grids the best thing to make cages out of? I thought of buying a 4ftX2ft indoor cage but don't know if I could find one big enough and thought the grids would probably be cheaper. Thankyou for any help :)

I have a pack that I got from B&Q that has made two 4x4 (connected by one wall in between). You would only need one pack for a 4x2 and you'd probably have some spare for another level. Mine work well for my pigs. I didn't have quite enough connectors but the rest I have just tied with string and it still works fine :)
Hope this helps.

I'm thinking of using fleece then having a tray with hay in it and a 'kitchen area'. With the fleece how often would I need to wash it? Does it smell? Would fleece with towels underneath be ok?

The grid's from b and q are around£23
I used towel's for my cage before but they didnt stay in place and smelt after two day's so i made some cage liner's (which you can buy from piggy paradise) they have mattress topper's underneath that soak pee then dry preventing ti from smelling they last over a week and the correx won't get wet you can wash them but not tumble dry and never use softener on any bedding (stop'sit wicking wee through)

or i can tell you how to make them they are very easy but they take a few hours

I picked up some boxes of grids from B&Q over the weekend, they didnt have them in stock in the South Yorkhire stores, but as I was going to the Xscape outlet nr Wakefield I checked their store there and they had some in.

The B&Q boxes have 23 grids which each measure 14inch square. £22.98 per box. http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.j...rage&fh_eds=ß&fh_refview=search&isSearch=true
It takes 12 grids to make a 2 by 4 open top cage.
You get 24 connectors or you could use cable ties.
Wickes sell them too and I think they come in a box of 16 and they are the mesh type panels, they are out of stock at the moment though http://www.wickes.co.uk/bin/venda?b...62aBNz1xGR3nDYu8308M%0ACtiXNdnFJg%3D%3D&qty=1

None of my piggies have climbed over the 14inch.

If you use correx as a base tray they will not be able to try and lift it.

I have made quite a few C&C cages and I have always followed the information from this site - How to make a c&c cage - http://www.guineapigcages.com/howto.htm

And check out their photo gallery to give inspiration of ideas http://www.guineapigcages.com/photos/index.php

:)p Good luck and have fun

Thankyou everyone :) At first I thought that the C&C cages would be really expensive but now I know they are a lot cheaper than most bought cages, especially for the sizes I can make with C&C grids :)

I am a definate C+C convert, as you say you can make the cage bigger than most shop brought ones for a lot less.

I may not be needing the C&C cage but thought I'd best do my research and ask any questions now then not having the time and be stuck if it is needed. Where do I get the base for the C&C cage from? The correx I think it's called? :)

Yeah its correx. I know some people have bought some from teacratepackaging or if you type correx into Google search you'll find some.
