Hi, my guinea pig was in a lot of pain for a few days and I was monitoring him closely. At first I thought he was having trouble pooping, but as he continued to be in pain I got more concerned and held him, waiting for him to pee on me.
He eventually did, and as I feared it was bloody. As I was putting him away I noticed his penis looked odd, and pulled out a long squishy object. It's yellowish in colour and the smell is awful. It's like a more pungent version of guinea pig pee smell. He seems to still be in pain, and I'm concerned with what it is. I can't see how to upload a photo, but if someone lets me know how to then I will.

I can attach a photo here actually, as I have done.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

It looks like a sperm rod. He will feel much better now it’s been removed.

Keep an eye on him but hopefully he should be ok now. If he still seems uncomfortable then I’d get him checked over in case he needs pain meds or antibiotics.

Thank you @Piggies&buns I was just about to link that guide.

He will hopefully feel better now it is out; but large rods can cause infection so it is always a good idea to see a vet if it occurs again.
Monitor him for the next few days with daily weight checks to ensure he is still eating enough hay and not losing weight (the pain of a rod can impact the appetite).

The guides below explain further

Hi

This is called a semen rod and it is dried semen fluid. Especially larger semen fluids stuck in the penis shaft an cause some major trouble.

You may find our Boar Care guide helpful in learning about the more unexpected problems that come with boars:

My RB Piggie Silver Fox Christian was always getting sperm rods. I had to clear them almost on a weekly basis as he had spinal arthritis and couldn't clear them for himself. This one was the largest I had to remove (very carefully I might add!)

HUGE Sperm Rod.webp

Bertie's usual spot for it is the end of his nose!
You should see the state of my fleece liners and pee pads, even the new ones I made a few weeks ago. I don't think they can stand an undecorated fleece and with 8 boars in the house I will say no more.
