I’ve been noticing for a while that at least one of my piggies is doing soft poos that often clump together. When I first spotted this I rushed them off to see our exotics vet, but she said they both appeared perfectly healthy - their weights were good, their tummies felt fine and she didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

Their diet obviously consists mainly of Timothy hay, with non-mixed nuggets and a small portion of vegetables daily. I even tried going a couple days without veg just to see if that would help, but it didn’t seem to make a difference. Other than this both girls are happy and healthy.
If anyone has any idea of what might be causing it or even just any tips on how to combat the issue I’d appreciate it.

Has this coincided with them being put out on grass now the weather is nicer?

The normal course of action for soft poops is to remove veg and grass from the diet and feed increased amounts of hay. This should be enough to settle a minor tummy upset.
You can also give a probiotic to help settle digestion.
If it does settle, then wait a further 24 hours after poops normalise and then you can reintroduce veg and grass but make sure to do it slowly.
If it doesn’t settle, then it’s best to consult with the vet again

No it’s been going on for quite a while. I have an inkling as to which of the two it most likely is, but as I said when it first started happening I had them checked by our exotics vet and she said they were both fine. They’re due a checkup soon anyway so I’ll definitely bring it up again.

I thought it could be the veg upsetting her tummy but whenever I’ve removed for it a couple days it didn’t make much of a difference. If they ever have grass/dandelion leaves it’s only in small amounts every so often, so as not to upset their tummies. Perhaps I’ll give the probiotics a go and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the tip!
