Greetings, my mother has a guinea pig she really loves. She left out of town for a week and I was looking after her. When she got back, we noticed a lump. With time, it has increased in size a bit. My mom and I are at a loss for what it could be. It seems to be bothering her since she seems to be trying to bite at it. When any pressure is applied to it, it definitely hurts, so we refrain from doing anything extreme. It is oddly sorta soft, pliable, and slightly squishy. It is also a bit red. It is about an inch and a half in diameter. My mother does not currently have the money for a vet. Is there anything we can do for her to help her? I do not know much of anything about guinea pigs, so anything would be appreciated.

Your piggy does need to be seen by a vet. Any lump needs a hands on check and treatment, particularly if it is increasing in size and is painful - it’s likely infected so medication is essential. There is nothing you can for it yourself - only a vet can diagnose and prescribe the treatment needed
Please do get piggy seen by a vet asap

I am sorry to hear about the problems with your mother's piggy.
As others have already said it really does need to see a vet.
A lump like you describe could be multiple things, all of which can only be diagnosed and treated by a hands on examination by a vet.

The good news is that the earlier it is seen the more likely the chances of a good recovery.
Medical problems left untreated can often deteriorate rapidly, and end up costing a lot more for more serious treatment.
I am sorry to be blunt, but please do call around some local vets and try to have your piggy seen promptly.
If money is still an issue and you can't come up with the funds for an appointment please consider handing the piggy over to a local rescue so it can receive the proper treatment and not suffer.
