Hi everyone I really need some advice on my 4 year old boar Malavita. I was cuddling him this morning and was just watching tv with him. After a while I looked down as he shifted around and found that he had passed a large ball of stool. It appears to be soft and wet. Afterwards I put on some gloves and helped him pass a few more clumps as I wanted to check if he had an obstruction or anything.

What should I do?

I’m really worried about taking him to the vet as the last time he went they prescribed him antibiotics and he lost a lot of weight and appetite and was basically at deaths door. This was a little over a year ago but I am still worried that they’ll do something similar that will negatively affect him.

he’s eating and drinking normally. No lethargy and seems himself. He’s still active and interacting with his cage mate too.
I cuddles him just after I cleaned their cage and didn’t find any similar stool.

It rather looks like your boar is suffering from impaction which can happen in older boars as the muscles in the anal sac become weaker. It’s normal and your boy may need help passing poo regular
Thank you for replying. I usually help him with passing poo if it looks like there’s 3 or 4 coming out at the same time but I’ve never seen it this soft and large. It’s about the size of my thumb!
