Today was a awful day. I've been on and off crying all day.
We had 3 guinea pigs which we now keep outside, They were in their run and one of them must have escaped some how and it had a heart attack and died as my dog who just came back from her walk was chasing it and before my husband could stop the dog, the guinea pig seemed he said to just collapse.

I was so furious with hubby earlier for not checking before letting the dog off her lead.

Now I feel like I either need to buy maybe a big outside enclosure that has lots of running room so that the remaining 2 don't need to go in a run or should I consider moving them indoors? As we like to bring them indoors in winter anyway. The only thing i found when they were indoors, despite me spot cleaning everyday they got very smelly!
I feel so awful

I am so sorry to hear about your precious piggie - I can not imagine how hard things must be right now.

But what I would suggest is to give yourself time to grieve, and then think about how to move forward.
Maybe bringing your other two piggies indoors is the right thing to do, but tonight it is ok just to be sad and miss your pig that died.

Don't make any major decisions right now - just be kind to yourself.

Sorry to hear about your piggy. Beating yourself up wont make you feel any better and no one is to blame/.... these things do happen.... things happen.... mine have escaped.....rabbits too! Have some time x

Thanks, that's kind of you. Everytime I think of little Luna being so scared it makes me cry even more :-(((

Huge hugs. I'm so sorry that you lost little Luna in such tragic circumstances. You clearly didn't mean for this to happen and took steps to give them a happy and safe life. Your husband wasn't to know that Luna had escaped and the dog did what comes naturally to dogs and chased her. It's just a tragic accident.
Take time to grieve before you make any decisions.

I'm so sorry to hear about this accident, it was an accident and no one's fault. As others have said don't rush into decisions now take time to think things through. Thinking of you tonight and sending you hugs.

I have had escapee hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils and rabbits and a couple have been chased by my dogs. It wasn't your fault or your husband's, accidents happen when you have animals.I am so sorry.Huge hugs

I'm so so sorry for your loss and the lead up to it piggy, I can't imagine how you must feel.. I try to look at negative things that they've happened for a reason, for example she may have suffered more in the future if that makes sense. Ive had an indoor piggy escape at night with the dogs in the bedroom, so you're certainly not the only one. You are in my thoughts. Xx

I'm so sorry for your loss. Hope you are ok. When I had my very first pig when I was very young my brother was round and his dog somehow managed to get upstairs and got the top off the piggies cage. She was under my bed and had no marks on her at all...just wet like the dog had been licking her....at least that's why I'm sticking to :(. She must have died of a heart attack. I was absolutely gutted. My brother offered to buy me a new one but I felt like I couldn't replace her. It was heartbreaking. Sending big hugs x
