It’s my mums birthday today and we were meant to have been visiting my brother who lives in Lytham Saint Anne’s and going for a meal but we’re currently sat in a huge traffic jam on the M61 thanks to an over turned milk tanker 😞 I know these things happen and I hope nobody has been seriously hurt but I’m feeling so upset and annoyed as I haven’t seen my brother since December and I was so looking forward to today 😞

You will get there eventually Claire. Just be thankful you were behind the accident and not involved in it. It’s Lytham festival so the traffic heading there has been horrific for days. Just focus on the family time you will have together when you arrive.

You'll get there eventually :)
If it helps you put your mind at rest you can always ring your family in advance to tell them you'll be late.
I'm glad nobody's been hurt too, but I bet it will be a right mess to clean up after a milk tanker 😂

When we finally get off the motorway, we’re having to turn around and go home as all the side roads through Preston are grid locked 😞 Thankfully, nobody has been seriously hurt

We’re still stuck almost 5 hours later and there’s a lot of frustrated drivers pipping their horns, I don’t know why as it’s not going to get us there any quicker and we’re all in the same boat 😞

But we have arranged to see my brother on 14th August. We don’t normally go on a weekday as my husband is a teacher but it’ll be summer holidays x

I'm sorry these things have scuppered your plans Claire and I hope you can get home again soon

Such a shame Claire.
It’s upsetting when eagerly anticipated plans go awry.
At least no-one was hurt and being stuck is the worst that happened to you.
Treat yourself to something nice when you get home and look forward to 14th August

Thank you. I’m glad nobody was hurt. It’s just frustrating. We’re going to have a McDonald’s at the service station and look forward to the 14th x

I'm sorry you didn't get to see your Mum on her Birthday Claire, she must be very disappointed too. Perhaps you can have a nice long chat on the phone with her this evening.

Oh what a shame. But at least you are all safe. And can arrange to meet another day.

Thank you. Sorry, I did get to see my mum but it was my brother we didn’t get to see as it was him we were meant to be visiting 😞 x

Thank you. We’re out of the jam now, have had a McDonald’s and are finally on the way home. Altogether we were stuck for 6 hours x
Oh that’s a really long time. I’d have been busting for a wee!

There's no way I could go that long. Another plus for the van (still persuading myself it's a good idea), note to self, put a bucket in the back!

I'm sorry I misread your post @Claire W . I hope you can enjoy your time with your brother on the 14th.

Thank you. My husband and dad went for a wee in the bushes on the side of the carriageway (like many other men) but me and my mum had to hold it. Thankfully we hadn’t had much to drink in the morning. We’re finally home and I have the piggies out. It’s been a long day x
