I have read alot of posts debating the issue of litter training guinea pigs.

My sows are on a fleece and towel bedding, and I put a litter tray in two days ago wwith some sawdust in.

Within an hour they had wee'd in there and now two days on most poo's etc are done in the tray:))

This means not having to change the fleece every two days now! much cleaner!

I'm impressed, VERY impressed!

My Martha has lately taken to a habit of wanting to save the shavings so instead she wees down the vet bed covered ramp... mallethead

That's so great! I hope mine will be that good when I try to litter train them soon! :))

Ooh, I'm thinking of changing mine to fleece bedding, so may try and litter train them too. They are good at going in the same places, so might work haha.
What clever girls you have though!:))

YAY! Its fabulous when they are litter trained makes cleaning so much easier! :) My boys still have little accidents now and then but generally upstairs in dry and clean and the down stairs in their logcabin is their 'loo'! :) well done girlies!

My tip is they seem to prefer tolieting in woodshavings, they are on fleece and the wood shavings are maybe what they were used to tolieting on when with thier mum.

Another thing is I always scoop up the poos if they do go on the fleece and put them in the litter tray to encourage them:))

Well done, I got a litter tray sometime ago and hung it on the side of the cage, put hay and wood shavings, put some food and hung there favourite hay ball with timothy hay and in the main it works really well. I too put their poops back in the tray and they took the bait!

Works well. Everyone should try it.
